We help designers, leaders, and organizations prepare for the great civilizational turning

We believe the future of transportation isn’t just about technology, it’s about designing systems that are human-centered, sustainable, and equitable, shaping a world where mobility is empowering and regenerative.

Our Mission

At Turn Institute, we are driven by the belief that the future of mobility must be built around people, not just technology. As a California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we advance this mission through three interconnected pillars:

  1. Partnering with design and engineering teams and organizational leaders to develop real-world expertise in sustainability and systems thinking.

  2. Conducting and publishing independent research that expands the field's knowledge base and informs policy, practice, and innovation.

  3. Leading grant-funded initiatives that deliver direct public benefit by making safer, more sustainable, and more equitable mobility solutions accessible to communities that need them most.

Together, these efforts reflect our commitment to impact over profit and our vision of a net-zero civilization powered by cleaner, smarter, and more connected systems that move people and goods while protecting the planet.

We work with private industry, public transit authorities, and government agencies
